Biography

Wu Chien-Hsing, born in Taichung, Taiwan, currently lives and works in Taipei, Taiwan. My artworks mainly present my perceptions from life and my curiosity toward this world. I have always believed that the artistic message cannot be expressed solely through a lingual and textual basis, but it must be truly understood deep down, digested rationally and then transformed into an artwork which could get one to feel the unrivaled charm that art provides. In order to respond to the reality we live in, I work with various artistic forms including painting, photography, sculpture, video, installation and etc.

Nowadays, in the era that is overdosed by the spectacle where the populace is confronted with more desire for sensual experiences, I began to work directly with images to the subjects of my concern through photography and video installation. The above approach induces me to consider how images and their content are being consumed and how we as the audience are being framed as well.

我的作品主要呈現人生的體悟，由感性出發，理性思考，反應了對生活的見識，對這世界的好奇，透過身體與世界連繫的想像，用各種形式來反應現實。而這樣子展現的態度,縱然不斷地用言語試圖去包圍逼近，也很難等同，而藝術作品之所以有無比魅力在於他可以有無限的想像力，藝術作品是超過言語所能及的。

在我的作品中我總是去思考如何從日常生活中的物件特質，去引發一種屬於我個人的感性氣氛、個人情懷，用一種詩性的方式去對家庭記憶與個體記憶進行召喚。對我而言，生活、記憶、物件就像一個循環的關係，我總是刻意去思考如何運用媒介的特質去傳達或者說出這種循環的特質，例如：影像的循環、空間的循環與物件的循環。最後去談論出再利用的可能性。

回應到當代的生活狀態，我總是思考著在高度現代的現下，現代意味著進步、是頭也不回的往前走。但在我的創作動機中，總是希望可以再去在當代性中，道說出一種回望過去與回望自身的懷舊。像是一種找回現在生活中被隱藏丟棄在看不到地方的舊事物。一種循環，一種回到原初，但卻又往前走。
